Laurel and Hardy have got to be the best comedic double act ever to grace the cinematic screen. They are simply underrated. This is one of their first and only films away from Hal Roach’s feature film enterprise and although it’s not one of their best or well remembered films, this is still worth the watch. You know exactly what you are going to get from the comical pair – funny, entertaining, slapstick jokes. The best thing about the film and their pairing is that the jokes are never tiring. They always feel fresh as the boys join the Foreign Legion. The story is slightly weak but that is only a little bit in an overall good film. It’s one of their long films in which there are some moments where it works perfectly but their short films have more punch in terms of the delivery of the jokes. Still, watch and enjoy yourself.
