Synopsis

When their friend Cookie o.d.'s, best buddies and musicians Spoon (Tupac Shakur) and Stretch (Tim Roth) decide it's time to kick their drug habit by putting themselves into detox. But they soon discover that the road to rehab is paved with reams of social service red tape. Spoon and Stretch are just trying to stay alive until they can get treatment.

But, between the angry drug dealers, the cops who have mistaken them for murderers, and the people with forms and clipboards, this turns into a task of epic proportions. Thus enfolds their comic adventure to sobriety- a hilarious, action-packed journey from A to Z and back again.

    Strong performances and plot keep this a step ab…

    This sort of film (a gangster action Thriller) usually thrives on masses of action, but not in this film, concentrating more on a great plot. However this is possibly what makes it so successful. The dialogue is witty and sharp, and the acting just highlights the clever script and excellent direction. It is a story of two heroin addicts in their attempt to kick their habit, and their touching and intense journey through recovery and losing their friend to drugs. This is normally not my sort of thing, but it is not a typical ‘street gangster/drugs’ film, and Tupac (surprisingly) and Tim Roth perform excellently with great chemistry. Highly recommended.
