    Good for the family

    06 December 2008
Escaping from a dog-napping company, Beethoven, a St Barnard dog gets adopted by the Newton family despite the reservations from the father. As the dog grows up, the dog proves to be a welcome addition to the family until a veterinarian tries to take the dog away for an animal experiment. This is a great family film. Its sweet, light hearted and funny, especially the scene where Beethoven takes the future Fox Mulder of the X-Files, David Duchovny and his partner for a ride of their lives when they try to buy the Newton’s family business. Beethoven is definitely the star of the show as it should be and the supporting cast does well to build a nice atmosphere for the dog’s mischievous behaviour. Some scenes can be a little over the top and sappy, especially the ending but make no mistake, this is a good family film and kids will instantly want a St Barnard dog once the film is over!
