    William Makepeace Thackeray's classic novel of Victorian England is adapted here, employing Reese Witherspoon, Gabriel Byrne, Bob Hoskins, Jim Broadbent, Douglas Hodge, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, and Rhys Ifans among many other huge stars to portray the illustrious characters. Becky Sharp (Witherspoon) is the orphaned feminist ahead of her time trying to ascend her class structure in the hypocritical British society of 200 years ago. If you are looking for a perfect adaptation of the story then look elsewhere, but if you want a big budget movie with great acting and beautiful locations then it is worth a watch. Witherspoon gives a stellar performance throughout, as usual, and although it adds on a big Hollywood ending, it is still very watchable.
