Synopsis

Adam Sandler and Kevin James star as best friends and fellow firefighters Chuck and Larry, the pride of their Brooklyn fire station. Chuck owes Larry for saving his life. Larry calls in that favor big-time by asking Chuck to pose as his "domestic partner" so his kids will get his pension. But when a fact-checking bureaucrat becomes suspicious, the two straight guys are forced to improvise as love-struck newlyweds. Jessica Biel, Ving Rhames and Dan Aykroyd co-star in this hilarious comedy.

    Imagine a film starring two tediously boorish lead actors so hell-bent on filling up the running time with relentlessly outdated and homophobic jokes that they make Alf Garnett sound like Germaine Greer. This film is ‘I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry’. Truly ‘Brokeback Mountain’ passed some people by. The surprising promise that Adam Sandler showed in his excellent turn in ‘Punchdrunk Love’ has been all but eclipsed by his complete retreat back into the kind of roles like this, with which he found fame appealing to the very lowest common denominators. The real tragedy here is that Alexander ‘Sideways’ Payne actually had a hand in writing the script. In short, a woeful film – avoid.
