Synopsis

A group of terrorists led by a villainous madman (Powers Boothe) takes over a sports arena during the sold-out Stanley Cup finals, holding the Vice President of the United States hostage and threatening to blow up the stadium if they don't receive $1 billion by the end of the game. A fireman (Jean-Claude Van Damme) whose daughter is kidnapped during the hockey game must conquer his fears and race against time to save his daughter--and thousands of innocent spectators--before the terrorists carry our their deadly threat.

    Good Action Movie

    Jean Claude Van Damme plays a disgraced former fireman who takes on a group of terrorist holding the Vice President and others during a NHL hockey final. This is a classic Van Damme and probably one of the last of the “one man against terrorists” type films. In this Dire Hard clone, the action scenes are great and Powers Boothe as the main villain may not have the same effectiveness like Alan Rickman in Die Hard, but his performance is enjoyable and gives the film a good boost. He simply makes the threat seem real which is needed for films like this. The dialogue can be cheesy at times and has a few silly moments but this is a film where you wouldn’t mind it at all. Let’s not forget about Van Damme as he is on top form. I like how Van Damme used different common objects as weapons as he defends himself. If you are looking for a good action movie, then don’t hesitate to watch this.
