Synopsis

Triggered by the nightly noisy lovemaking of his parents, nine-year-old Murray Murray is thrust onto the bumpy road towards sexual discovery. After exposing himself to a girl who proceeds to bully him at every opportunity, Murray Murray falls for her 16-year-old sister who soon becomes the girl of his dreams.

Weakheart Drop
Flawed But Wonderful

I was really engaged by this story of a boys sexual awakening. If you can forgive some clunky expostion within the script and a sometimes rough edit, there is much to enjoy. As well as an underused eye for a good shot, the director had a tight grip on the story and swept the main character, as well as me, along on a very imaginative journey with just the right balance of humour and pathos. This short film is well worth a look. Strange seeing a young Neve Campbell at an, obviously, early stage of her career though.

Fantastic Short

This was a fantastic short. The acting was great, the visuals and camera angles were good; it just had everything a good short or short story would have. And that's the other thing; it would have made a great short story too. The fact that the visuals didn't have to be there, but were there nonetheless, also adds something special.

I liked `Love Child' as soon as I started watching it, and I found myself wondering about a lot of events in the short after it was over. It's only about 30 minutes, which gives the skeptic even more reason to watch it. Hopefully, if you ever see this, you'll enjoy as much as I did.
