A one night stand goes awry and the would-be lovers end up spending the night talking about the nature of men, women, sex and relationships in this largely improvised independent drama.
I enjoyed this film a lot, and laughed out loud more than once. What DO women do in the bathroom? And call me naive, but I never tire of twists on that "tired" old subject of love, sex and relationships. The fact that the two principals aren't exactly fountains of wisdom and erudition makes it all the more fun.
The producers of this film obviously thought they were making a witty and absorbing conversational piece along the lines of Before Sunset. Unfortunately what they actually made was a rampantly tedious film about two characters who manage to spout pretty much every men-are-from-mars-women-are-from-venus cliche they could think of in the (thankfully) short running time. Every tired old topic is raised for inspection from male fear of commitment to the 'revelation' that women actually enjoy sex. It's worth noting that if you're going to make a semi-improvised film where your principle characters spend so much time talking, its worth finding actors who actually have something to say. 'Love & Sex etc' starts poorly, goes nowhere, and ends without a scrap of insight to be had. Awful.
