Synopsis

Meet Tibby, Bridget, Lena and Carmen. As the summer before their 16th birthdays approaches, these four best friends with diverse family backgrounds and personalities hatch a plan to stay connected despite being separated for the entire season. The girls pass around a pair of secondhand jeans that, magically, look wonderful on all of them despite their different sizes, with each teen keeping the pants for two weeks. Over the summer, the pants come to represent the girls' mutual support of one another. But the jeans also lead each teenager into bruising yet ultimately healing confrontations with love and courage, death and forgiveness, in the days of The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants.

  1. Not true to the book

    06 December 2008
Even though this film is well made, altering some of the characters’ personalities and specific scenes that are not in the book is not a good experience to watch. You become confused and frustrated that there are so many discrepancies that the book reader is not familiar with in which the director/screenwriters have tampered with. It is because of this, I wasn’t able to enjoy this film as much as I would have like to. It can be boring in some parts but it is just the simple fact that plot sequences that changed between the book and the film production was just outrageous and I can’t understand why that decision was made. I know some books to film have made changes, for example the Bourne series...but when you start messing around with the essence of the characters like this film did then you are asking for trouble and you will feel a little disappointed.

I watched this film when I was about 10 years old and I felt that I was already too grown-up for it. The storyline left something to be desired, and the childish characters and completely impossible happenings make it unbelievable and boring.
