Synopsis

As a crime wave sweeps the city and the police department suffers a shortage of officers, the mayor decrees that admission to the Police Academy will be open to any and all applicants. Now the first cadets--a collection of oddballs, eccentrics and misfits--will soon be let loose on the streets ... if they somehow manage to graduate in this worldwide hit comedy that started the series of Police Academy films.

    Police Academy is just one of those films that you have in your collection. Some say this is stupid, the plot undeveloped and incorporates bad film-making but just ignore that. Police Academy is just a barrel of laughs. It’s supposed to be fun. It’s not supposed to be some realistic take on police officers and their conduct because if you want that then this film is not for you. Yes the characters are one dimensional but so what? Don’t think too much about it and just watch it for pure entertainment. Motor mouth Larvelle Jones steals the show with his voice impersonations whereas Cadet Mahoney is the loveable rogue wanting out of the police program. The other characters like Hightower who is very tall for example, you will instantly love because of their extreme personalities. Plus, there are too many funny scenes that simply cannot be ignored – the podium scene anyone?
