sweet little comedy

A sweet, little comedy by director Christopher Guest about the consequences of a single online message board post has on a low-budget studio film and its cast and crew. The post suggests that lead actress Marilyn Hack could be up for an Oscar nomination. This gets the studio, publicists, agents thinking and soon the low-budget "Home for Purim" becomes "Home for Thanksgiving" and the actors Victor Alan Miller and Callie Webb are tipped for nominations too, creating an incredible amount of buzz around the film and changing the lives of the people involved. Although not as laugh-out-loud funnny as his previous films (perhaps due of the ditching of the mockumentary style for a more classical fiction), this comedy has an original premise and delivers a good film with strong lead and supporting performances. Many of Guest's regulars are cast in small parts which all have something to offer.
