    brilliant

I watched this till about half way through and was getting very confused as to the timeline, so I started from the beginning again - so for those of you about to enjoy this film, be aware that the timeline jumps forward and backward. I thought this film was riveting - the atmosphere, the complexity of the plot with its twists and turns was superb. The acting great and the end was a festoonment of unexpected twists. Very satisfying and a sumptuous feast for the eyes as well. This is one I'll be watching again and probably buying for Christmas presents for people. Absolutely unique and well worth watching.

Fantastic, what a great film that i will enjoy watching several more times. I have added thios as another favorite. The acting is grea, Michael Caine is just brilliant as are all the leading actors. Scarlett Johansson plays her part spot on, another user comented on her performance as flat but for me she was playing it like that on purpose and it fitted the role she was playing, and besides she is absolutely gorgeous and is teh spitting image of my girlfriend so i suppose i could be slightly biased!! Give this film a go i am very confident that you will enjoy it or love it.

    annoying

it was hard to stay focused during this film, i bit of a waste of time. rediculas and to many twists you kinda figered it all out before you watched it, bad accents and really annoying to tell the truth.

you werent sure who was the vilin and who was the good guy, guess there wasnt any. the plot seemed to jump and to many impossible things happened, alot didnt make any sence.

if you are really bored then watch but id give this one a miss

You are very very wrong here, maybe you should watch it again, it's very clever and how you figured out what was going on before you finished watching it is beyond me. No other user has been able to because the ending is probably the furthest thing any of us were expecting to happen.

I sat through this film not expecting much but how I was suprised! Its one of those films you just can't take your eyes off... it was utterly enthralling! I'd reccomend it to anyone and it is one of my all time faves. The only thing that lets it down is its a little confusing so watch carefully! It doesn't get much better than this and Nolan is a true genius! 9/10

    a must-see movie

    06 December 2008
When has Christopher Nolan ever done a bad movie? Never. Now you can add The Prestige to the ‘never’ list. This is absolutely brilliant. It is an excellent piece of storytelling and the twist at the end will leave you shocked and totally unexpected. All the shots are beautifully filmed and shot by Christopher Nolan. The cast of Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and Michael Cane are superb, delivering their lines with emotional perfection. You believe in these characters when you see them and you believe in the magicians tit for tat tricks in their battle to be the ultimate magician in this period drama. There are twists and turns throughout this whole movie which you have to pay attention to, but the payoff is just fantastic and it will definitely leave you thinking. The only bad point is Scarlett Johansson as her performance was flat although integral to the plot. A must see movie.

      RE: a must-see movie

I completely agree. I think Nolan creates amazing films, they are so clever and gripping. I watch countless movies and after I have nothing to say, nothing to think about but with all of Nolan's films, including this one, I am just amazed. I thought the plot was fantastic, If you found this predictable you probably did not look deep enough into the plot, and the interconnections and the subplots that entwine. Great film.
