Synopsis

Director Ridley Scott, who created two of Hollywood's most impactful and stylish adventure thrillers, Alien and Blade Runner, hits the mark again in Black Rain. Academy Award-winner Michael Douglas (Fatal Attraction, Wall Street) and Andy Garcia (Internal Affairs, The Untouchables) play New York cops whose job to escort a vicious assassin back to his native Japan leads the two Americans into Osaka's exotic underworld and straight into the center of a raging, brutal "Yakuza" gangland battle.

  1. a must-see

    06 December 2008
Black Rain has to be up there as one of best cop movies ever made. Everything about this film feels credible. The acting is supplied by Michael Douglas and Andy Garcia in which they are both excellent in this film about two New York cops getting involved in a gang war between members of the Yakuza, the Japanese Mafia. Kate Capshaw and Ken Takakura are also a very good addition to the film as well. The second thing great about this film is the cinematography – at times it feels epic and grand as every shot is beautifully shot, especially the night time shots of on the streets of Osaka. The atmosphere is moody and overwhelming. Even the costumes and music provided by Hans Zimmer are stunning. The plot will leave you hooked throughout although the dialogue can be a bit iffy and bloody violent at times but don’t let that put you off. This is simply a film you must watch.
