Academy Award-winner Kevin Costner directs and stars in this post-apocalyptic thriller. In 2013 anarchy reigns, until a solitary wanderer discovers a postman's uniform, delivers letters ... and rekindles a spirit of revolution.
The Postman is a decent film with interesting ideas but gets overshadowed by plot holes and some real cheesy moments. The audience is brought into the world of a post-apocalyptic USA but the film makes no reference as to how that world came to be. It is just there and it exists. The dialogue lines and some scenes like Costner delivering mail in slow motion are often silly to the point you are almost laughing at them rather than with them. I don’t know what Kevin Costner was trying to aim for, another Dancing with Wolves epic? Whatever reason that may be, Costner does have some good ideas but the flaws are too much to take this film seriously, although this is seriously better than his other film Waterworld. The huge running time will make you feel like you wish you were doing something else. There are better post-apocalyptic films out there like Mad Max so watch that instead.
not as good as mad max
