Bret Maverick(Mel Gibson) is a great con-man/ poker player who needs three thousand dollars to enter a massive poker tournament. While trying to receive the needed money, he meets a fake, thieving women named Annablle Bransford(Jodie Foster) and a Marshal named Zane Cooper(James Garner). Traveling together, they come along various mishaps and surprises.This is one of those clever, unrealistic comedies. Although most of them are done very poorly, this one was done pretty well. Mel Gibson is for once in his career, funny and Jodie Foster also spices things up a bit. Although the movie is not consistently funny, it is quite humorous at certain scenes. It is pretty fast paced and includes a bit of romance making it an exciting movie all together. Overall, enjoy the movie for what it is.
