Synopsis

Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee star as two mismatched martial artists battling the Japanese mob in Los Angeles.

Two American cops are hunting the Yakuza. One was raised in Japan and has the mind and spirit of a samurai - and the body of a human fighting machine. The other is a Japanese-American raised in California's San Fernando Valley. He likes malls, pizza and MTV - but he can disarm five gunmen with his bare feet.

The Yakuza are coming to Los Angeles--but they're going to meet their match in this action thriller.

    nostalgically entertaining

    06 December 2008
There's a certain amount of nostlagic satisfaction to be had from watching the kind of wall-to-wall-action-on-a-budget films that Hollywood seemed to churn out every week in the late 80s and early 90s. While Arnie and Sly got all the big budget roles, Dolph Lundgren was definitely my favorite of the second-tier of action stars (alongside rivals Van Damme and Seagal). In 'Showdown In Little Tokyo' Dolph is paired alongside the late, wisecracking Brandon Lee (son of the legendary Bruce Lee) in the familiar buddy-cop set up. This film ticks all the boxes - stunts, explosions, cheap effect, bad synth music, girls in skimpy clothing, and endless gunfights. You'd be hard-pressed to call it an example of cinematic art but for what it is you can't really go wrong.
