Space Cowboys

exactly what you'd expect, which is no bad thing

This is one of those films which you might expect to be utterly awful but which, for one reason or another, end up drawing in to the point where you actually finding yourself enjoying it. This has to be entirely put down to the cast - with four lead actors like this it's pretty much just a pleasure to watch them bounce off each other (literally, once they get into space). It goes without saying that you know exactly what's going to happen right from the start, and the film throws up few surprises. But 'Space Cowboys' knows what it's trying to be and (as is so often the case) Clint Eastwood pulls of the directorial duties efficiantly and competently. If there's no real stand-out moments, its at least a relief to find that its nowhere near as sacharine as it could have been in the hands of, say, Ron Howard, or a latter-day Spielberg. Pretty solid on the whole...
