There is nothing conventional about this film. Performance is definitely original yet it is the weirdest movie you would probably see. The film starts off as a gangster flick and then halfway through, the film goes through this psychedelic trip where Mick Jagger appears as a retired rock star. Is this making any sense? Probably not. I don’t even think there was even a plot to this movie as it wasn’t clearly defined. I don’t mind watching a film that is challenging and thought provoking but this film really isn’t one of them. Everything about Performance feels like you have taken a drug to watch it – the pace is hectic, flashy colours, haunting music with very graphical violent and sexual scenes. The ending is a little confusing to add further insult. It’s certainly different and experimental, I give it that but I don’t think I was able to enjoy it as much as I could have.
