Synopsis
Diane Keaton stars in a stunning tale of espionage based on John Le Carré's best-selling novel about a young, politically naive actress who is recruited by Israeli Intelligence and sent to infiltrate a Palestinian terrorist organization.
The start of the movie gets off to an excellent start and as the movie drags on you wonder who is going to be next in the firing line. At times the film is gritty, providing an insight look at counter terrorism between the Israelis and the Palestinians. The reason this film is not five star is Diane Keaton. Her role is just too problematic and her part was just a miscast – she may have been ok but her performance is not believable and she is frankly a little too old and a little too quirky to play the role of Charlie. She is supposed to be the leading lady but gets seriously outdone by her excellent and flawless supporting cast members. I think someone a little younger would have portrayed Charlie with much more credibility. It does have its confusing moments and the cast size is rather large but the realistic overtures make this film worthwhile.
This is a good movie.
