Not their finest 90 minutes

An enjoyable enough comedy from Abbott and Costello, though far from the best film they would star in together. Africa Screams sees the pair involved in an expedition to Africa in search of a valuable horde of diamonds, as they have managed to pass themselves off as great explorers, which they certainly are not… Encountering the predictable 'African' dangers of lions, gorillas, and a tribe of cannibals, the film is perhaps slightly politically suspect, but nonetheless the explorers manage to locate the diamonds they are after, getting involved in several comedic episodes along the way. Aside from some classic Abbott and Costello moments, the film doesn't have a huge amount to offer, but thankfully those moments are just about frequent enough to keep your attention throughout.
