Synopsis

DJ Qualls stars as nerdy high schooler Dizzy Harrison, whose determined efforts to get himself kicked out of school succeed, also landing him in prison. There he forms an unlikely duo with cellmate Luther (Eddie Griffin), who teaches him the fine points of “prison cool,” transforming the geeky Dizzy into the hip “Gil Harris.” At a new school after his release, “Gil” brings down the popularity-obsessed social system, boosts school morale and wins the heart of the gorgeous head cheerleader, Danielle (Eliza Dushku). But things get a little sticky when Danielle’s former boyfriend, uber-jock Connor (Ross Patterson), does some investigating into “Gil’s” past. With his real identity about to be exposed, Diz has a lot of thinking to do about what it truly means to be happy in high school.
