Synopsis

Geophysicist Dr. Josh Keyes (Aaron Eckhart, Erin Brockovich) has made a terrifying discovery: the Earth's inner core has stopped rotating. Now the planet's electromagnetic field is deteriorating and within months, Earth will be destroyed. One hope exists: to send an elite team of scientists in a subterranean vessel to the center on the Earth. As mankind's fate hangs in the balance, the scientists and the ship's crew must do the unthinkable - detonate a nuclear device to reactivate the Earth's core.

  1. Unbelievable but fun

I found this an enjoyable film, providing you forget about real science its good fun.
  2. a little obviouse

I enjoyed this film, but i found myself yelling at the screen, telling them to do things that were later on introduced in the film. It was really quite predictable. But still, a good watch.
  3. a waste of time

    06 December 2008
Oh lord – and that is just putting it across kindly. If you are not worried about logic and don’t really want to think, then give this film a try otherwise, if you like to think like me, stay clear of this film. Not only is it boring but logistically I’m not even sure it is possible to go down to the centre of the Earth to “restart” it like this film does. I know anything can happen in Hollywood but the plot just seems too far-fetched to even believe in and I think they got the science wrong. There are some silly moments which are a complete nonsense, some terrible acting that did not make me sympathize with any of the main characters whatsoever and stereotypical characters that are so by the book that you have already read it. There wasn’t even one moment where I was caught up in the plot and it lacks substance for me to care. The ending sums up this film as a silly waste of time.
