Man acquitted of murdering his wife tries to regain his former status in the community. Finds love and real culprit. (Watch for Darryl Hickman as String). Based on Margaret Echard's novel.
This film is a mixed bag. There are some good moments but it gets let down by flawed character development. They are basically undeveloped. You have characters that are introduced yet disappear for the rest of the film which is basically wasting some of the acting talents that they had available. Furthermore, I just didn’t feel emotionally connected to these characters. I think the decent performances came from the female cast members who were solid and believable. Then you have the plot which is contrived, bland and full of plot holes. The one thing that this film has in its favour is the cinematography. The film is well made and the production sets are nice but that is about it otherwise there is no point in watching this film. If you like 50s classics then you might enjoy this better that I did, otherwise I think there are better murder mystery suspense films out there.
not great
