Point Blank

If you asked me, which of these films do I prefer, Point Blank or Payback, it would probably be Payback. Despite Payback being a remake of Point Blank, the film had too many good things going for it that can’t be ignored. However, that is not to say this movie can’t stand on its own two feet. This is still a good movie. The major theme is revenge, so there is no change from this version and the remake but there are cool scenes which are simply iconic. You are treated to imagery of Lee Marvin’s character emptying his pistol in slow motion is just one example. You have to appreciate Lee Marvin and what he brings to the role as Walker. He steals the show. I always find myself laughing in one scene where his companion beats him until she is exhausted and he goes wordlessly to watch TV. The style definitely has a raw feel to this film and with that in mind, it should be watched.
