Synopsis

In the future, time travel is possible - and lucrative - especially for Charles Hatton (Sir Ben Kingsley), the owner of Time Safari Inc., a travel agency escorting wealthy clients to the Prehistoric Era. Under the seasoned leadership of Dr. Travis Ryer (Edward Burns), clients may hunt dinosaurs if they follow guidelines intended to protect the time line. But when the rules are broken, the hunters return to a markedly different future than the one they left.

Now, as "time waves" ripple from the Prehistoric past, through the present and into an uncharted future, Ryer teams up with Sonia Rand (Catherine McCormack), the inventor of time travel technology, to unravel the mystery behind the catastrophic changes that are threatening the very existence of humanity.

Not a Classic But Good Fun Anyway

As long as you don't go into this expecting anything too cutting edge, emotionally engaging or award worthy, this is actually a lot of fun. There's a bit of a message about protecting the environment lurking in there somewhere, but mostly it's just 90 minutes of unlikeable people dodging from slavering beasties. Plus anything with Jemima Rooper in it is always worth watching, even if her accent swings wildly from one side of the Atlantic to the other.

ruined by the effects

It’s amazing for a film to have such an ok concept only to be massively let down by awful special effects. Why this film was made for the big screen just baffles me with its TV movie feel. Starring Ben Kingsley and David Oyelowo (you have to wonder why these two fine actors are in this crap), the film is set in the future where humans can go back in time and shoot dinosaurs, providing they stay on the path. When one of them doesn’t and accidently kills a butterfly, it automatically sends a ripple through time and space with devastating consequences. Like I said, the concept is ok – it’s like The Butterfly Effect but this film executes that scenario poorly. The special effects are so bad it was like they didn’t make room for it in the production budget. You can tell it’s fake and unconvincing and to be honest, Doctor Who has better effects and that’s a TV show! Avoid at all costs.
