Incredibly this film manages to pass all the way through ‘so-bad-it’s-good’ territory and comes full circle to ‘no-it’s-actually-just-bad’ certification. In all honesty, little probably needs to be said beyond asking you to read the title of the film again. Yes, that’s right; Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. One of the original taglines for the film genuinely promoted this as ‘science-fun-fiction’, which is a film genre that surely needs resurrecting. It is difficult to quite see how this ever came into being, though its place in history is assured simply through being almost unwatchable, and the absence of any kind of redeeming quality at all. Perhaps that was the point, and this was all an attempt to make an abysmal film which would somehow still get watched and written about. In which case, you have to admit that it has now succeeded.
