Synopsis

The greatest adventure of all time begins with "Star Trek", the incredible story of a young crew's maiden voyage onboard the most advanced starship ever created: the U.S.S. Enterprise. Surprisingly good

Having grown up watching numerous repeats of the original series, and many of the episodes and movie franchise since, I was a bit worried when I heard that were making a re-imagined Star Trek movie.

I guess I shouldn't have been too worried though, Without revealing too much, JJ Abrams knows how to write good sci-fi storylines, and this one manages to "reboot" but not in a completely random way, leaving it free to do what it pleases without really destroying the Canon of the original.

I'll be interested to see where this rebooted series ends up, and whether it references events of the original movie/series along the way.

Thumbs up from me, very happy with my first Blinkbox rental.

I have to confess, I wasn't expecting much from this one but, aside from a bit of plot confusion and coincidence in the middle, it was great. Bring on Star Trek 26!

Not bad at all

I suspected the film would ruin my childhood memories of Star Trek, but I actually found the film enjoyable, even if the plot was a little too fast-paced. Recommended movie rental, and will be almost certainly be in the must-see list for 2009.

The best blockbuster of 2009 - I loved this movie. Abrams has done a great job of keeping enough nods to the original series to make it feel like part of the Star Trek franchise, but also created a great action thriller with really wide appeal. It's perfectly paced, the performances are all spot-on. Can't wait for them to make another.

It is J.J. Abrams after all. The only thing that worries me is that the effects will be so good, that they will make this implausible as a prequel to the original Star Trek films.

Don't you think these guys are to young to be credible? I know its is supposed to be set earlier but they lack a bit of gravitas.
