    Not bad, but somewhat misses the point

    Having read Bronson's autobiography a couple of years back, I was interested to see how it would be translated to film. It's made difficult by the fact that much of Bronson's violent history isn't that spectacular - typically rudimentary brawls with prison guards - and that most of the interest in his character is in the internal workings of his head. The book portrays well a man who isn't inherently bad but is quite disturbed, and who is trying to reconcile his journey along the line between madness and sanity; he is conscious that he is different but can't do anything about it, so gradually comes to embrace it. The film attempts to do the same with it's quirky Clockwork Orange style narrative, but skips over too much of his tormented and introspective younger life so it can move towards more visually stimulating set pieces in his later life, and as such misses much of the point as to why Bronson is actually interesting. Tom Hardy does an excellent job as Bronson and saves the film from complete mediocrity, but I'd recommend you read the book rather than watch this.

      I also think that more time should have been spent on his youth to try help everyone understand how society can cause a person to self destruct , and give up on life so easily .
