Synopsis

Leonardo Di Caprio and Academy Award winner Russell Crowe star in director Ridley Scott's adaptation of best-selling post-9/11 espionage thriller.

When idealistic CIA agent Roger Ferris (Di Caprio -- The Departed, Blood Diamond) is stationed in Jordan after being wounded in Iraq, he dedicates his life to stopping further attacks by Al Qaeda. Following a plan that the British employed successfully against the Nazis, Ferris plants the suspicion among the terrorists that their leaders are collaborating with the Americans. But as the stakes rise and Ferris finds himself in the crosshairs, the plot he starts spirals into an outcome he could never have foreseen.

Based on the novel Body of Lies by David Ignatius.

    Monster!

It's like Blood Diamond crossed with Spy Game. Except Redford is played by Russell Crowe.

Crowe speaks on a hands-free kit for his mobile throughout the movie. I think this is a wise move from the director. Some might say it is "Health and Safety gone mad", but Crowe's track record with hand-held phone injuries speaks for itself. Four stars.

    Good story, well acted.

A good paced thriller with all the right components; plenty of espionage, terrorism and counter-intelligence. Crowe and DiCaprio work well together; delivering a believable 'unworkable' relationship between an agent in-the-field and his boss pulling strings from Langley, whilst intelligence services in ally countries start to cause problems too. Worth a watch!
