  1. This is one for the revolutionist in you!

    27 November 2009
Interesting, entertainly disturbing. In the beginning you are not sure where this film is leading you. As the plot unravels and the mystery is unfolded nothing is left for the viewer to be confused yet the end is still surprising in parts. It is beautifully narrated in various ways. At times just when you thought parts may be getting corny, true emotion grabs you, with the sheer enjoyment of the change of pace and great action supplemented with good acting.
There are many references and symbolisms scattered throughout the film, for the discerning viewer to glean and make comparisons with an already degenerating Free British soceity. (Guatamo bay comes to mind in some parts.) Check out the orange attire with bags on heads.
An explosive (LOL) and different but touchingly refreshing film. I recommend this one to watch
  2. Definately a comic book movie to watch

    03 September 2009
Can't recommend this one enough. A dark, meaningful interesting movie with a different and thoughtful approach.
  3. One of the best graphic novel adaptations

    06 December 2008
Adapted from Alan Moore's comic mini-series, V for Vendetta is a Hollywood production with all the expected visual panache and drama, but it stands out from the standard blockbuster through its atmospheric mood and surprisingly thought-provoking themes. The film is set in a dystopian vision of London where society is strictly controlled by a fascist government. Of all adaptations of graphic novels, this counts as one of the best. In the graphic novel the polarities of anarchism versus fascism were skewed into something more hazy, a blurry mix of political messages moving from anarchy to socialism to liberal freedom-fighting. But I feel the film is a product of its time, and if it dumbs down the violence and anarchism, or raises issues with the increasingly fascistic-conservative nature of American politics, then surely that’s a good thing if it can then further affect wider audiences.
