Synopsis

The future isn't big enough for the both of them the 21st century's most dangerous cop and the 21st century's most ruthless criminal.

Sandra Bullock stars as a 21st century cop who resorts to desperate measures to apprehend a killer: she reanimates a no-holds-barred 20th century cop who had been sentenced to cryoprison, a cop known in an earlier century as the Demolition Man.

When psychopathic killer Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes - Blade films) escapes cryoprison during a mandatory parole hearing, only officer Lenina Huxley (Bullock - Crash, Miss Congeniality films) has a play to stop a criminal rampage from causing havoc in her now-peaceful world: free the one man capable of stopping Phoenix officer John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone - Rocky films, Rambo films). Now, two men from another time bring a level of nonstop action long unseen in this future, idyllic world.

  1. Two hours of harmless 'good versus evil’ fun for…

    06 December 2008
Set in a peaceful and crime-free future society, a notoriously dangerous criminal manages to escape from his cryogenically frozen state. After finding that modern police techniques of quiet and calm have little impact on this dangerous convict there is only one option left. They must free a master-cop from the past (also frozen in time), the only person who can stop this crime wave. It is always fun to be part of someone else’s vision of the future and here there are some neat futurist ideas but, although the colourful scenery and wacky outfits are interesting, they come off as a little clichéd. ‘Demolition Man’ fails to deliver much more though. Wesley Snipes gives an over-the-top and slightly annoying performance as the crook and Sylvester Stallone is – well, Stallone. This film offers two hours of harmless ‘good versus evil’ fun for action fans but little else for the rest.
