Synopsis

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible–inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime.

    Impressive

This is what happens when a fairly simple idea is taken by a master story writer to its logical conclusion - this is by far one of the best films I have seen for a number of years - it reminded me of the first time I watched the Matrix (which I somehow managed to do without any knowledge of the premise on which it was based) and you suddenly get the implications of what is going on - absolutely brilliant.

    Complicated?

    23 April 2011
This film is NOT complicated in the SLIGHTEST sense of the word. The idea is really good but the plot they chose is so so poor that a child could have come up with it. "like wow, a dream in a dream in a dream WOOOOW!!!" NO...not at all. The length of the film just adds insult to injury. This is a real shame as much of the film is good; the acting, the scripting, the special effects but none of this makes it tense enough to be a thriller in any stretch of the imagination. Overall? 3/5

Inception in my opinion a Brilliant Film.

People who like complex Science Fiction films Like the Matrix, Star Trek, X-Files etc and also don't mind if the plot is hard to follow sometimes will love this film. I am going to watch this film a few times as the more I understand about the plot the more I will appreciate it. As the film suited me the long run time was a bonus. Finally the special effects are first class.

    hmmm...

    22 December 2010
Most of the film was a bit dull to be honest.
I'd say, if you divided it into quarters, the middle two were dull, and the start and end were better; mainly the second quarter started me thinking about doing the washing up or going for a walk instead.
The latter quarter was suitable tense, but the end was a bit of an anticlimax.
Bit too long a film really... I reckon it could lose about half an hour and you wouldn't miss it.
Calling this "one of the best films of 2010" isn't really saying much; I'm yet to see a particularly interesting or original one. This just reminded me of the Twilight Zone, just dragged out for ages and injected with American action movie SFX and typically shallow and transparent plot (I don't think there was any subplot to speak of, which is odd considering how long it is).
I imagine most people would be attracted to this more for the production quality and SFX than any supposed intellectualness; but I think they'd get more out of Iron Man than this. ...it ain't The Matrix.

    A Thinking Person’s Movie

    20 July 2010
If you are sick and tired of seeing prequels, sequels, reboots, remakes and re-imaginings then Inception is the perfect movie for you.

Inception is bold and ambitious. Whilst the concept of dreams is nothing new in cinema, given the current climate of movies that are out in the cinema, it certainly feels refreshing. Christopher Nolan has exceeded himself by creating a brilliant film. The plot does require attention but it is nicely balanced with outstanding action set pieces that are on par with The Matrix. Whilst Leo will undoubtedly get the plaudits for his emotional performance, a special mention must go out for the rest of the cast, especially Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his anti-gravity sequences. Even as the end credits roll, the film lingers in your mind as you process and debate everything that you have just seen – Nolan performed ‘Inception’ on the audience!

Without a shadow of a doubt, Inception is one of the best films of 2010.

      RE: A Thinking Person’s Movie

Without a doubt Kelechi, a thinking persons movie with lashings of visual candy. But there's the awesome soundtrack too. Zimmer Underpins the way time is slowed at each layer of the dream. By the use of Edith Piaf wake up song, but slowed down to the level of the layer. Nice that even the soundtrack is a part of the story.

I don't know of ''Inception'' but this film requires ''Perception'' (is the process of attaining awareness or understanding of the environment by organizing and interpreting sensory information) if you have that. Then the film in my view was brilliant. I have held of from watching this movie for a while (To be in the frame of mind). I am so glad i did. 10 stars for this well thought out film. And to everyone else who participated and created it.

A brilliant film by Nolan, but no masterpiece.

    19 July 2010
I had the good fortune of seeing this film in an old theatre and the film looked great on the big screen. The film was fantastic. Great acting, great effects, great direction and an interesting concept. But it is no masterpiece by any means, it does have it's flaws. Nolan could of really given the dream worlds more depth and surrealism in which the audience could feel like they too are being hypnotized and drawn in with the characters. Nolan hypnotized me with Memento but not quite with this. That aside, this is a brilliant summer blockbuster and I'm sure it will be up for some Oscars.
