Synopsis

The provocative work of multi-award-winning animator Phil Mulloy stands as a model of satiric grotesque unparalleled in British animation. The antidote to all that is kitsch and sentimental, these direct, witty and acerbic fables, drawn in brush and ink, perceptively comment on human nature and challenge contemporary values.

This compilation includes the six films of the Cowboy series (Slim Pickin's, That's Nothin', Murder!, The Conformist, High Noon and Outrage!), all of the Ten Commandments, The History of the World (The Invention of Writing and The Discovery of Language), Intolerance and Intolerance II: The Invasion, and four further films: The Wind of Changes, The Chain, The Sexlife of a Chair and The Sound of Music.

WARNING: This film may contain explicit sexual scenes, strong language and violence.

    Extremely original

The short films by Mulloy are just astonishing, inspiring, revealing and quite often strikingly resonate with ourselves. You can't quite describe it beyond it being simple animation with a lot to tell. This is a beautiful collection and a DVD that made me cry, laugh, wonder and stayed awed for a long period of time afterwards...week's gone by and I still feel the emotional and psychological impact. Outside the DVD you have to see the continuation to Intolerance, The final solution, I think you can find it on you tube somewhere.

My favourite ? Wind of Changes...very beautiful piece, coming from Poland and moving to UK to study I can totally see Alexander's point of view of constrained small-version-of-themselves society. It might seem that every modern society if fundamentally flawed, just all in different way. The only way to make it better is to be good yourself and be a walking example, an inspiration for those that would seek out a better way of living, to inspire not to lead.
