Synopsis

Paul Nilsson (Harrison Ford - Blade Runner, Star Wars films), a successful security chief for an international bank, finds himself a pawn in a dangerous game when he receives word that his family has been kidnapped. The kidnappers, led by devious and ruthless mastermind Bill Cox (Paul Bettany - Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World), force Paul to rob his bank and commit one of the largest thefts in history. The situation becomes more ominous when he realizes that he is being set up for embezzlement and all traces of the real thieves will vanish. What follows is a high-stakes game of cat and mouse as Paul uses his security expertise to try and turn the tables on the criminals.

'Disappointing’ just doesn’t quite cover it…

Firewall stars Harrison Ford as Jack Stanfield, a security expert forced to help rob the bank he is supposed to be protecting. Stanfield must race against time to clear his name and save his family. Well, it would seem too easy to write Firewall off as a rerun of other, better, more enjoyable films and unfortunately the film leaves little choice. Firewall is tired, formulaic and plays much too safe to be anything other than a run-of-the-mill action film, which is, as it happens sadly lacking any decent action. Ford doesn't really seem to be trying as he simply goes through the motions of his family guy hero role, and the film loses any interest pretty much right after it starts. Saying that, Paul Bettany's performance as the super villain is entertaining enough although this is probably Firewall's only redeeming feature.
