Read the book. Loved it.
Heard about the movie, ran to the Theatre.
Watched the movie.
Sat in the fetal position laughing to myself over how good it was.

Worth the $7.

This is one spooky film that beats many of the supposed horror films for sheer 'unnervingness' if thats a word. The filmmaking isnt the best in the world in some parts but the witches are magnificent.

Based on the popular children's book by Roald Dahl, the Witches is the story of Luke, who is unlucky enough to be present at a convention of evil crones who plan to turn children into mice. When his best friend undergoes this transformation, Luke must fight to foil the Witches evil plans. Although it's a kids film, The Witches has an unforgettable beginning, followed by some pretty terrifying moments. If anything it is darker than the average children's fairytale film today, and doesn't shirk away from delivering plenty of horror and dread, combined with gruesome effects and a brilliant plot. Really entertaining for people of all ages and for those who watched it as youngsters it is a sheer delight to rediscover. Shame they made the ending so glossy but then it was made for children, and overall it packs a strong punch.
