Corpse Bride

An imaginative, witty and dark animated feature

‘The Corpse Bride’ is another animated masterpiece from the idiosyncratic Tim Burton. Johnny Depp (who else would star in a Burton film!) voices the main character, Victor, who inadvertently proposes to a deceased Bride while practising his wedding vows in the deep forest. Now married, Victor is taken into the underworld in what has to be cinema’s strangest ever wedding ceremony. The film jumps genre between comedy, romance, brilliantly dark fantasy, superb animation and an enormously witty set of songs by master composer Danny Elfman. The film is great from beginning to end. Though possessing less longevity than ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ and fewer memorable songs, the film is a typically dark and unique offering from Tim Burton and deserves to be considered as one of the best and most original animated movies around.
