Two aging film star sisters, Blanche and Jane are holed up in a decaying Hollywood Mansion, with both feeling bitter at each others successes and their own failures. The film is not only a disturbing horror film but also a fascinating examination of both aging and insanity. The two main actresses, Crawford and Davis provide mesmerising and unnerving performances, and the film as a whole is gripping. Whatever Happened to Baby Jane is really unsettling, and the tension is built up brilliantly, in a film which is horrifying and grotesque.
