A disturbing journey into the darkest heart of america

There is no denying the influence ‘Deliverance’ has had on cinema. Four businessmen embark on a weekend of outdoor fun in the American outback – the heart of ‘redneck’ territory. The not-so-welcoming locals take the men hostage in a truly alarming turn of events that will change their lives forever. The film has become synonymous with a couple of infamous scenes one being the memorable yet eerie ‘duelling banjos’. It’s certainly not a movie to view with the family on a Saturday night, far from it. Part horror, part thriller, ‘Deliverance’ is a powerful and disturbing piece of cinema that deserves its success simply because it’s such a unique and incomparable film. The plot is thoroughly gripping and the level of acting cannot be questioned. Don’t be mistaken, this is a very good film - but is this really entertainment?
