Synopsis
Academy Award winner stars in and directs this fast-paced Western about the fight for vengeance by a Missouri farmer whose family is murdered in the last days of the United States' Civil War.
Regularly referred to as one of the best film of its genre, The Outlaw Josey Wales is a classic Western set during the Civil War, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. Wales is a farmer who seeks revenge after his family is pointlessly murdered, but after joining a group of guerrillas, he decides to try and start a new life for himself. However, escaping the past is not so easy. The Outlaw Josey Wales really does deserve to be seen as one of the greatest Westerns. Unlike other gung-ho anti-Indian films of the same genre, The Outlaw Josey Wales manages to make a serious point about people living together harmoniously while also providing plenty of entertainment and action. The way in which Wales is gradual joined by others who accompany him is really touching, and Eastwood plays the character magnificently. An original and enjoyable film.
