Synopsis

Follow the rollicking adventures of Bo (Seann William Scott - American Pie films) and Luke Duke (Johnny Knoxville - Jackass: The Movie), two "good old boy" country cousins with NASCAR dreams, who, with the help of their eye-catching cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson - "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica") and moonshine-running Uncle Jesse (singer Willie Nelson - Wag the Dog), try to save the family farm from being destroyed by Hazzard County's corrupt commissioner, Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds - Boogie Nights). Their efforts find the Duke boys constantly eluding the authorities in the "General Lee," their classic 1969 Dodge Charger that keeps them one step ahead of dim-witted Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane (M.C. Gainey - Sideways).

A vacuous homage to the cult TV show

Imagine a film with some of the worst screen performances around. Imagine a film where the plot is neither serious nor funny. Imagine a film with gags that trigger cringing rather than laughter. You have just imagined ‘The Dukes of Hazard’. Based on the popular television series, the storyline is revealed at the start of the film and there are no prizes for guessing the conclusion. The middle part is filled out with dour action and weak humour – and there is little else to say about it. There are a few reasons why people may want to see this truly depressing effort but for those who are fans of the original television series – stick to that show. Johnny Knoxville enthusiasts should go back to watching ‘Jackass’ and Jessica Simpson admirers can always download a music video. That leaves very little reason to give up your time for ‘The Dukes of Hazard’.
