Synopsis

Directed by Brian de Palma, Scarface is a classic crime drama starring Al Pacino as Tony Montana, a Cuban immigrant and convict. Having come to Miami on the Mariel Boatlift, Montana quickly rises to the top of the Miami underworld, but greed gets the better of him, showing that he can fall just as fast as he rose. Al Pacino gives a compelling performance as Montana, which is angry, loud and gutsy. Scarface is violent and brash, and has a distinctly 80's vibe about it that makes the film seem somewhat dated. However, leaving the dubious style and music of the film aside it's still reasonably entertaining and as gangster films go, arguably up there with the best. Just watch you don't drown in the testosterone.
