Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) has gone 40 years without "doing it." Now his pals are making it their mission to help him score... fast! Can he survive their hilariously bad advice? Will he land in the arms of the way-too-experienced or the way-too-drunk? Or can he find true love where he least expects - from a gorgeous grandmother (Catherine Keener)? When it comes to sex, there's only one sure thing - The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
‘The 40 Year Old Virgin’ is in the guilty pleasure school of cinema. The story is about, yep you guessed it, a 40 year old man who has yet to ‘consummate a relationship’. Under the peer pressure of his work buddies, Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) attempts to end his long drought and the rest is fairly obvious. Luckily for the movie, this predictable theme doesn’t damage the enjoyment level. That’s because the film never takes itself too seriously – it’s a simple and silly comedy and never pretends to be anything else. Perhaps the film's biggest achievement is that it offers a little something for everyone. There is a witty script, some excellent physical comedy and even a subtle moral undertone of love and respect. If you are after a night of escapism and straightforward fun than there are not many better choices than ‘The 40 Year Old Virgin’ – just don’t expect anything more than this.
A charming and funny film that doesn't take itse…
