Two years on from the original and the makers of ‘American Pie’ return with a more outrageous, more hilarious and more offensive sequel. Sadly, only one of these statements is true – and it’s neither of the first two. Fans of the original will no doubt love this steamy affair but for cinema goers who want a comedy with some substance, some sophistication and, well, some comedy - look elsewhere as there is nothing new here. The cast remains largely the same and you can be forgiven for thinking on a number of occasions that you are watching the original such is the repetition of jokes. ‘American Pie 2’ offers exactly what you would expect – brash, in-your-face teen characters, crude sexual references and a distorted and vulgar take on adolescent life.
