Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason

Cliché filled nonsense

This is the second helping of the modern day love story that has become synonymous with women of all ages. Set four weeks after the first film, ‘Edge of Reason’ details the love life of the clumsy and insecure Bridget as she continues her infamous relationship with the handsome Mark Darcy. Fans of the book franchise and the first film will be no doubt disappointed with this sequel. Any genuine sentiment that the film attempts to portray instead comes across as cliché filled nonsense as an equally clichéd cast offer typically clichéd performances. The humour is weak, the soundtrack is annoying and Hugh Grant is in it – more evidence to suggest that ‘Edge of Reason’ is a very poor film. Then again, this description can be used for almost any ‘rom-com’ these days so if that’s your kind of movie – then you will probably love this film.
