Synopsis

Will Lightman (Hugh Grant) is a good-looking, smooth-talking bachelor whose primary goal in life is avoiding any kind of responsibility. But when he invents an imaginary son in order to meet attractive single moms, Will gets a hilarious lesson about life from a bright, but hopelessly geeky 12-year-old named Marcus. Now, as Will struggles to teach Marcus the art of being cool, Marcus teaches Will that you're never too old to grow up.

    Based on the book by Nick Hornby, About a Boy stars Hugh Grant as Will, a man living a selfish life who joins a single-parents group in order to find another short-lived romance with a desperate mum. Will ends up meeting Marcus, a twelve year old boy who helps him to change his shallow lifestyle. About a Boy is a surprisingly delightful film. It has some extremely funny moments with Hugh Grant proving that he isn't only capable of playing the stock English romantic, and Nicholas Hoult proving that not all child actors are intensely annoying. The two make a brilliant pairing, and the film itself is not only very enjoyable but most importantly full of warmth and emotion.
