Houston, we may have a problem

If big Hollywood stars, expensive action sequences and all-American heroes are you thing then you will probably love 'Apollo 13'. If not then 'Houston – we have a problem'. The film tells the infamous true story of the 'Apollo 13' mission to space which threatened to kill 3 brave astronauts after an oxygen tank on the ship exploded. Director Ron Howard attempts to portray on the big screen the tension, suspense and fear that was felt throughout America and the world in 1970. A star-studded cast and some big-budget special effects are thrown in for mass appeal. It is perhaps this addition that prevents 'Apollo 13' from excelling. The script and sincerity of the movie both suffer as Howard concentrates on more and more glamour. Blockbuster fans will know doubt adore this but for more demanding cinema goers 'Apollo 13' is certainly a failed mission.
