The cast just suggests it should be a lot more

When you see a comedy movie that contains Ben Stiller, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Hank Azaria you just know it is going to be funny. There is of course one way to nullify this – add Jennifer Aniston, a weak script and name the film ‘Along Came Polly’. After witnessing his wife cheating on him (on their honeymoon no less), the sensible and square Reuben (Stiller) reluctantly attempts to meet new people – enter Polly (Aniston) and her polar opposite personality. The rest plays out in typically obvious romcom style. Now, it’s not that this is a terrible film but it doesn't live up to the cast. There are a number of giggle-worthy moments and the movie flows reasonably well but like so many romcoms it is just far too predictable. After ninety minutes of confusing sentiment, the only message that director John Hamburg makes clear is a lesson to himself. John……..back to the drawing board.
