    Some good volcano action

    An idyllic town surrounded by beautiful landscape, beautiful people and a long-time dormant volcano. What could possibly go wrong? Errm, anybody want to vote for a volcano eruption? Bingo! This is just the classic Hollywood blockbuster formula. There are big stars, big-budget special effects and a constant love story for those romantics out there. Like most blockbusters that follow this successful blueprint, Dante’s Peak satisfies without stunning. There is some good volcano action here and the character development is adequate but the film doesn’t do anything that hasn’t been seen in other disaster movies. If you are looking for a film that is straightforward, easy to watch and employs some exciting (if rather predictable) thrills then this could well be the movie for you. If you are seeking something a little deeper then ‘Dante’s Peak’ is likely to cause you to erupt with frustration.
