Intolerable Cruelty sees the Coen Brothers take on the romantic comedy genre in a film that's more mainstream than other's they have made. In the place of the Coen's usual black comedy is a more light-hearted take on relationships. Miles Massey is a successful divorce lawyer who has it all. However, when beautiful Marylin, ex-wife of a client, takes Massey on, he gets more than he bargained for. While it may not be a perfect film, Intolerable Cruelty more than entertains with its snappy dialogue, sharp plot, and great performances from the two leads. Miles and Massey (played by George Clooney and Catherine Zeta Jones) have real chemistry and obviously have a lot of fun bouncing off each other, and their enthusiasm makes the film really very enjoyable. Intolerable Cruelty is a cut above other films of the same genre.
