Probably the most controversial film on Clint Eastwood's resume, so much that even John Wayne said he would never do a film with the man after viewing this. Provocative film that centers around a mysterious stranger that rides into town one day, and turns out to be the ghost of the town's sheriff that the town folk had killed. He ends up seeking revenge on them as well as the gang that whipped him to death. The movie is very dark and moody like film noir, and the haunting music score will run chills up and down your spine. It's obvious that the "coming back from the dead to get revenge on the gang that killed you" theme in the film also inspired later movies such as "RoboCop", "Dark Man" and even "The Crow". Overall, a dark decent into mankind's soul that will keep you thinking for hours after the movie had ended.
